So you've decided to follow Christ, and have accepted Him as your Savior.
What are the next steps?
1
Be baptized in water.
"Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins." ~Acts 2:38. Contact Pastor Mike VanProyer to learn more, and set up a time to be baptized.
2
Read the Bible.
Start by reading the Gospel of John. You can find places to read the Bible free online; biblegateway.com is one of many available. Have a teachable spirit; for the heart that is willing to recieve, the Bible is our central means of direction in understanding the heart of God. It is the final authority and source of life-guidance calling us to a faith-filled, obedient, godly lifestyle. (Acts 2:42, Eph. 4:13-14)
3
Pray.
The Lord Jesus Christ taught us to pray, "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name..." (Matt. 6:9) You are now a child of the Heavenly Father, so talk with Him often about anything and everything; your joys, and your sorrows. Talking with someone is one of the best ways to strengthen and deepen a relationship; so too your relationship with your Creator!
4
Become part of a local church fellowship.
One of humankind's most basic needs is met by having healthy relationships within a community. The development of relationships is vital for spiritual, mental, and emotional heath, both for the individual and the community of which they are a part. (Acts 2:42) "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another..." ~Heb. 10:25
5
Talk to a pastor and find out how to dig deeper.
"Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." ~2 Tim. 2:15 Periodically, classes are made available for those who have been newly adopted into the family of believers. Check out the event calendar, too, to find out about any other Bible studies or meetings going on now where you can join us in studying God's word.
6
Seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
"But you shall recieve power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you..." ~Acts 1:8
