King's Way Foursquare Church's current focus on missions efforts is four-fold:
1. Malaysia
In Malaysia, we are partnering under the leadership of Henry & Jenny Leu to plant churches in the face of violent persecution in an overwhelmingly anti-Christian environment. In 2006-2007, we helped to plant six churches. Our goal for 2009 is at least one more. Our future desire is to reach unengaged and unreached people groups there with the Gospel of Christ.
2. Africa
The Saharaui people are an unreached, unengaged people group clinging desperately for survival in the western Sahara. Ethnically cleansed from Morocco in 1976 and sent into the desert to die, these four refugee camps have been surviving completely at the mercy of the United Nations since then. The U.N. brings in all food, water, and supplies necessary for their survival. There is literally nothing there but dust: no plants, no animals, no water. These 200,000 souls are almost entirely Muslim. Together with our partners, YWAM and the church in the Dominican Republic (who are preparing to send missionaries of their own to the Sahara), we are exploring ways to reach out to these desperate peoples with the Bread of Life and the Water of the Word.
3. Dominican Republic.
Our ongoing efforts in the Dominican Republic, partnered with Children of the Nations, have born much fruit. In 2005, we helped build a school in Don Bosco, which has now become a two-story school serving over 700 children. We have since aided in the development of a vocational center (with computer lab, baking school, and more), as well as contributed to local churches' needs (buildings, seating, etc.), and helped to plant a church in Pedernales, among other projects. We have also sent out a missionary (Julieanne Fry) from our own church here in Sequim to serve for a year there, in addition to our yearly short-term trips. More detailed info to come!
4. Our extended family of missionaries
Serving through Foursquare Missions International (FMI). Foursquare Missions is the international mission arm of the U.S. Foursquare Church whose mandate is to win the world to Christ through the planting of healthy, reproducing churches through indigenous leadership. We serve our brothers and sisters in FMI through a monthly offering and ongoing intercessory prayer.
King's Kafe Espresso Stand
Not only do we support our missionary efforts with manpower and monetary gifts, we have a fun project that benefits both the giver and the receiver: the King's Kafe! Located in our church foyer, the King's Kafe espresso stand donates all proceeds to missions. Coffee can do good things! All our coffee beans are Equal Exchange certified.
