Nestled next to Olympic Mountains and Olympic National Park, Camp King’s Way in Sequim, Washington lies in the heart of the Olympic Peninsula. With only 15 inches of rain a year, it’s climate and location makes it the perfect place for camping and exploring. Only minutes away from Olympic National Park trails, lakes, and rivers, Camp King’s Way is the “biggest little camp in the Northwest”.
Kids can explore the Dungeness Spit, the longest natural sand spit in the United States, ride the mountain trails of near by parks, water ski on glacier carved Lake Crescent, horseback ride and have the opportunity to be taught by a certified instructor, go on safari at the Olympic Game Farm, and encounter the grandeur and beauty of marine & wildlife on the Olympic Peninsula.
What started out as a call and a vision in 1979 has now become a reality. But like most visions it has not been without adversity. This multi-generational calling to build a camp began thirty years ago.
In November of 1979 the call to build a “place of retreat” is identified for the property and Habakkuk 2:2 is given. Ten years later a word of affirmation occurs.
“Write the vision. And make it plain on tablets. That he may run who reads it. For the vision is for an appointed time. Though it tarries, wait for it. It will surely come and will not delay.” Habakkuk 2:3
In 1999 the call and vision is renewed. But this time, it’s to a new church now on the property, King’s Way Foursquare Church and pastor, Mike Van Proyen. By 2001, building permits are filed and construction begins on Phase 1. Legal action to secure the rights to build a 350-person facility also begins. In 2002, a 75-bed dormitory and gymnasium is built to completed Phase 1. In the summer of 2003, nearly 25 years since the first call in 1979, Camp King’s Way opens its doors to campers for the first time. And on June 23rd, after an eight year legal campaign, Camp King’s Way secured the rights to build 350 person youth camp. Costing nearly 600 thousand dollars, this is the first reversal of a land use decision for a church in the State of Washington. On January the 20th 2009, Camp King’s Way broke ground on Phase 2.

What started thirty years ago as only a vision and a calling is now on the threshold of becoming a reality. King’s Way Foursquare Church has been dedicated to doing their part in fulfilling this call, but now they need your help. Camp King’s Way needs a coalition of churches and individuals to catch the vision and answer the call to build this camp for our children and our children’s children.
We all know the incredible impact of summer camp. It is at camp where many youth receive Christ, are baptized in the Holy Spirit, and often receive a life calling to fulltime ministry. Summer Camp not only plays an important role in the lives of individuals, but also, in the future of our movement.
We also know that finding a summer camp that is affordable, accessible, available, and is a quality and unique experience can be difficult for every youth program. Camp King’s Way will make your life easier.
The pieces are in place and the preliminary work has been done, all that is left… is for you to catch the vision.
